In preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, a specialized orientation session was held in Abuja with Islamic scholars, Quranic exegetes (Mufassirun), and mosque preachers to establish intellectual and ethical guidelines for public Quranic exegesis programs.
The briefing emphasized that expounding the Book of Allah is a grave divine trust requiring thorough mastery of Arabic linguistics, classical contextual sciences, and above all, deep personal piety.
"The Holy Quran was revealed as a guide, healing, and unifier for humanity. Quranic pulpits must never be degraded into arenas for sectarian bickering, scoring personal rivalries, or distorting verses to suit political expediency," the orientation highlighted.
Scholars were directed to focus their Ramadan discourses on practical spiritual self-purification, fostering communal reconciliation, protecting family values, and mobilizing aid for widows, orphans, and the underprivileged.
